Description
Date: Late 19th to early 20th century, circa 1890–1910

Materials: Gilt brass, dark stone, and veined marble
Form: Pair of decorative ewers
Description: A handsome pair of French decorative ewers, each having an ovoid dark stone body set within elaborate gilt-brass mounts. The bodies are embellished with scrolling foliate appliqués and acanthus-form lower cups. Each is surmounted by a tall, engraved and cast foliate spout with an open scrolling handle. Raised upon richly ornamented pedestal supports terminating on rectangular dark veined marble plinths.
Dimensions: Each 22 in. H × 9 in. W × 7 in. D.

Condition: Overall age-related wear with rubbing, oxidation, and discoloration to the gilt-brass surfaces; scattered spotting and abrasions to the stone bodies. The marble plinths exhibit surface wear and scattered edge chips. No major breaks or repairs present. Mounts have not been disassembled.
